How I became a Human-Centered Trainer
Share
When I started leading my own training sessions, I noticed something early on. People sit down in their comfortable cliques ready for their side chats, or take out their phones prepared to use them as a shield from boredom. Disengagement was breathing at me before I could take my first breath.
Pretty fast I understood that unless I do something else, this will be 8-hours of totally wasted time. Mine included! Errr,... No, thanks!
So I started running my sessions with asking my audience questions:
At first, I used to see the shocked faces, staring at me as if I was for real. But soon enough, they opened up to me about their fears, challenges, painful work experiences, and real-job struggles.
They just need to be seen and appreciated.
But I don't just stop there, no m'am.
Before I even opened the topic, I acknowledged them for their hard work and dedication, for which I got rewarded by even bigger stare fest and silence, however, soon followed by shy smiles and an honest sharing of their struggles and what could help.
Don't get me wrong, I do have a content ready, slides too. But it's very flexibly prepared. Because having people open to share, learn and grow is far more important than a top-notch PowerPoint and a rigid script. And it works!
That's how ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป-๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด became my philosophy.
Today, I design learning experiences around real emotions, real behaviors, and real stories from the UAE workplace. I meet people where they are - introverts, new joiners, seasoned managers, anxious performers, and everyone in between.
My goal is simple:
This is Human-Centered Training.
When your people feel safe, connected, and ready to try new things.
This approach has consistently increased engagement, retention and real behavioral shifts across mixed teams.
What is your experience in training rooms? When did your people come after training and started to change their behaviors? I would like to know your experience.
